Welcome to YWAM Poipet. We are so excited to invite you into the heart of our mission, to empower the Khmer youth to transform the nation of Cambodia. To see this vision fulfilled, we serve the community, educate youth, and develop leaders.

Investing time studying the Bible, discovering your God-given calling, and utilizing your passions to serve the Kingdom of God is a decision you will never regret.

Together, God will use us to see this nation come to know Jesus in one generation.

University of the Nations Cambodia

After the turmoil of the Khmer Rouge regime, refugee camps emerged one the Thai border in the 1980s. Youth With A Mission (YWAM) served in these camps during that period. In 1991, Cambodia welcomed foreign aid, leading to the establishment of YWAM Cambodia under Philip and Wendy Scott's leadership. YWAM Cambodia was formed to provide medical care, community development, English teaching, and church planting in Stung Treng province along the Laos border.

In 2000, a new team of YWAM workers was established in Phnom Penh with the goal of hosting short-term teams and providing training for Cambodian youth. This initiative led to the official registration of the University of the Nations, Cambodia (UofN) with the government in 2002. Shortly after, UofN conducted its first Youth Training School (DTS) and began hosting short-term teams regularly.

Since then, our efforts have expanded to include ministries aiding children at risk, dormitory and education assistance programs, including support for university students, and the establishment of education centers focusing on English, media, arts, and office skills. Presently, we operate nationally with over 200 staff spread across 16 locations in 10 provinces, including key centers in Koh Kong, Pailin, Poipet, and Battambang.

YWAM Uofn Poipet

YWAM Poipet, Cambodia, established in 2016, initially focused on youth development by launching the Youth Development Center (YDC) to teach English to Cambodian youth and building relationships with the local churches and schools. Beginning with a team of 5 individuals, we have since expanded to 36 full-time staff members, comprising 28 Khmer and 8 foreigners.

In subsequent years, YWAM Poipet launched its first Discipleship Training School (DTS) in 2017, hosted their first international outreach team, and started a Bible Core Course (BCC) in 2018. These training programs aim to foster the growth of Christian leaders in Cambodia. Then in 2023, YWAM Poipet introduced the first Discipleship Bible School (DBS) in Southeast Asia, further solidifying its commitment to leadership development in Cambodia.

Beyond educational endeavors YWAM Poipet is deeply involved in community outreach through initiatives such as the GP Cafe, GP Education, and volunteer teams. Our outreach efforts encompasses youth education through the YDC, multimedia projects, and soccer ministry. Additionally, leadership development remains a core focus, with programs including DTS, DBS, and School of Ministry development which facilitates the training and integration of new staff.

Through these multifaceted initiatives YWAM Poipet aspires to contribute to the transformation of Cambodia by nurturing Christian leaders and serving the broader community. Our holistic approach addresses educational, spiritual, and social needs, with the overarching goal of empowering the next generation to effect positive change in the nation.
